Keyboard shortcuts are great and come in handy for users that care to know them. They are efficient, easy to remember and save us pretty much time. Although, the mouse is a great device for navigating and carrying out operations but using keyboard shortcuts can actually save you some few clicks and a whole lot of time.
In this stroll, I’ve compiled some useful keyboard shortcuts every Windows 8/8.1 user needs to know to save them a lot of time used on their Computers.

Below is the list of some useful keyboard shortcuts for you.

 Shows the running apps.  
WIN + I: 
Opens the Settings menu.  
WIN + L:
Locks the computer.  
WIN + W:
Opens the windows search menu.
WIN + M:
Minimizes all the open windows.  
WIN + Shift + M:
Restores all minimized Windows  
WIN + +: 
Zoom in using Magnifier  
WIN + - : 
Zoom out using Magnifier  
WIN + F1:
Open Windows Help and Support   
WIN + E:
Launches a new Windows Explorer Window  
Shift + Delete:
Permanently deletes files without sending it to Recycle Bin  
WIN + R:
Opens the Run dialog box  
WIN + D:
Minimizes all open windows and Shows the desktop
CTRL + B:
Bold highlighted words
CTRL + U:
To Underline highlighted words
CTRL + I:
To Italicize highlighted words  
CTRL + Z:
Undo the last changes made.
CTRL + Y:
Redo the last Undone change.
Ctrl + Shift + Esc:
To quickly access the task manager.   
Alt + Ctrl + Del:
Brings up the lock, sign out, change password etc screen.  
Ctrl + Click:
Automatically opens a link in a new tab.  
Alt + Print Screen:
Takes the screenshot of the current active window using either green shot tool or sniper tool.  
Ctrl + T:
Opens a new tab in internet browsers.  
Ctrl + Shift + T:
Reopens the last closed tab.
Ctrl + Shift + P:
Opens a new private window in Mozilla Firefox.  
Ctrl + W:
Closes the current tab in browsers.  
Ctrl + Backspace:
Deletes the last word before the cursor.  
Ctrl + Arrow keys:
This shortcut allows you to move the cursor one word at a time instead of the default one character at a time.  
Ctrl + +: 
Zooms in web pages in web browsers.
Ctrl + - :
Zooms out web pages in web browsers.  
Ctrl + 0:
Resets the webpage's zoom to default.  
Ctrl + L:
Jump to the address bar of your web browser.  
Ctrl + Shift + Delete:
Quickly delete your browser's history, cookies, cache and other details stored while surfing the internet.  
WIN + Pause/Break:
Quickly open the system properties dialog box.
Ctrl + H:
Brings up the browser's History  
F2:
 Allows you to quickly rename any selected file.  
Ctrl + F:
Opens the Find option in any program.  
Ctrl + S:
To quickly save a work in progress.
Ctrl + Home:
To quickly jump to the top of a page.
Ctrl + End:
To quickly jump to the bottom of a page.
Ctrl + P:
To Print the current page.  
Space Bar:
Scrolls down a page in web browsers.  
Alt + Tab:
Cycle/Switch between running applications.
Ctrl + Tab:
Cycle/Switch between tabs in your browser.  
Ctrl + F5:
Clears the cache and refreshes the current tab.  
Shift + Right click:
Open alternate right click options.  
Alt + Enter Key:
To open a selected file's properties.  
Ctrl + 1, 2, 3:
To switch between different tabs on browsers  
Shift + Arrow keys: 
To quickly highlight content alphabet by alphabet.  
Ctrl + Shift + Arrow keys: 
To quickly highlight content word by word.  
Ctrl + Shift + Home:
Selects the Entire line moving backwards.
Ctrl + Shift + End:
Selects the Entire line moving forward


NOTE: 

  • WIN as used in the table refers to the Windows Key on your keyboard.
  • Some of these shortcuts also work on older versions of Windows OS.
