How To Bypass Speed Throttling On Etisalat Chat / Social Me Pak

So you've already started enjoying the Etisalat chat/social me pak tweak posted a few days back but it seems like the connection is utterly slow on some days?

Here's what I discovered;

After the first day of successful subscription, I used to the line for a few minutes and then this message came (see screenshot below)

Afterwards, the speed became slow, so slow it took almost a minute to open a simple html page and the only thing that seems not to be affected was Instant Messaging apps as they require only a few bytes to connect.

But I actually noticed this other message too after a few hours (see screenshot below)

So the next day, I scheduled a task to download at exactly 5:15am with ADM; my motive was to get the Speed throttling notification message before the Pack expiration message and it worked out successfully.

On that day, there was no speed restrictions whatsoever, the speed ranged between 1.2MB - 2MB per second in my location so I downloaded most files I needed with ease.

Since then, it has become a daily routine and I have been blazing my Etisalat Social Me pak unlimitedly without limits. 😌

The FIX

Download Advance Download Manager from playstore and plan a large file download to start between 5-6am and if you get the speed throttle message before the pack expiration message, you're good to go. Else, it's another speed limit day for you!

Xiaomi To Start Shipping Laptops in 2016

Xiaomi want’s to dominate every single segment of the market. We can literally say, they’re on fire. Not only do they currently sell premium specced phones at very cheap prices, they also make tablets, smart TV’s, earphones and wearables.

Just recently, we learnt they may start using thier own processors next year. New reports suggests that they’re preparing laptops likely to be launched next year. In an interview, chairman of Inventec Corp (one of Xiaomi’s partners) Richard Lee revealed the info. In his words:

“I am upbeat about the business outlook for Xiaomi’s notebook computers, as the firm has more than 200 million registered smartphone users”

“I am not sure if the smartphone approach will be applicable to notebooks, but I expect Xiaomi’s entry into the notebook industry to bring something new to the market”

“We will start shipping Xiaomi’s notebook computers in the first or second quarter of next year”, he added.

It’s also likely that the laptops will come with a cheap price tag. The news truly is exciting, and maybe, just maybe, I’ve found my next laptop.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime Review

Xiaomi are known to be the kings of the “Value for your money” category when it comes to making cheap, quality and affordable handsets, so when the launched the Redmi Note in early 2014, we weren’t all too surprised. It was an affordable “large 5.5” inch handset with top drawer specifications. Now almost a year later, the successor of the popular Redmi mi note has been launched. I’ve been using the device for a week now I have my verdict.

If interested in just a summary, here it is:

PROS
– Excellent design
– Wonderful display
– Powerful processing package
– Impressive speaker quality

CONS
– Not available in Nigeria (you have to pre-order)
– Google Play Store might not come pre-installed
– User cannot dismiss notifications from lock screen

The Redmi Note 2 brings some key improvements over its predecessor, but is it good enough to tackle the opposition such as the Lenovo K3 Note, Meizu M2 Note and the recently announced (and maybe expensive) Tecno Phantom 5? Let’s find out in the detailed review below.

Design
The Redmi Note 2 features a 5.5-inch full-HD display, a soft touch plastic back with a matte finish,a removable rear cover which allows you to access to the battery (also removable), microSD card slot (up to 32GB), and dual micro-SIM card slots.

Other design cues include the volume buttons and power button which are on the right side, the headphone jack on top of the device and micro-USB port are placed at the bottom of the Redmi Note 2. An IR blaster is also present for quick and easy connection to your TV.

Performance
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 comes with an octa-core MediaTek MT6795 Helio X10 processor which is clocked at either 2 GHz or 2.2 GHz depending on the version of the device you get (Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime are the two versions). It is also backed by a PowerVR G6200 GPU and 2 GB of RAM.

I haven’t experienced any lag on the device especially since I updated to MIUI7, as RAM optimization is far better on MIUI7 than MIUI6. Games also run smoothly as I haven’t experiences any hiccups as at writing this review. While the device tends to warm up during processor-intensive tasks, it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary and it won’t make the device uncomfortable to hold on to.

Hardware
The Redmi Note 2 comes with 16 GB internal storage while the Prime version comes with 32 GB versions. There is also an expandable storage available via micro-SD card by up to 32 GB which is a welcome addition especially for those who want to buy the 16B version instead.

The rear speaker of the Redmi Note 2 sounds really good and I was quite surprised considering the price. My previous smartphone which I’ve used for two years (The Gionee Elife E6) has terrible speaker output.

The Redmi Note 2 comes with a 3,060 mAh battery and I haven’t been able to run the battery life down at any period (this may be due to the improved PHCN presence) but I can tell you battery life on this device is good enough to take you a full day depending on your usage.

Software
The Redmi Note 2 comes with MIUI 6 based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop installed but there’s an option to flash the MIUI7 developer ROM if you wish but Xiaomi promises that MIUI7 will be available as an OTA update sometime this month for does who don’t want to go through the hassle of flashing the developer ROM.

For those familiar with MIUI7, it has loads and loads of features baked into it to enhance your experience. This includes a well stocked theme store to tweak your device to your absolute perfection.

Disadvantages of MIUI7 also abound. There is no app drawer (if you consider that a problem). There’s inability to dismiss notifications from lock screen, and depending on who you get it from Google Play Store might not come pre-installed.

Camera
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 comes with a 13 MP rear camera with a LED flash and phase detection auto focus(PDAF) Technology and a 5 MP front-facing camera for those gorgeous selfies. Camera performance is above average. It isn’t anything that will blow you away. It is very decent but not as good as The Samsung Notes of this world. The camera application is also solid with many different camera modes available. It includes a manual mode for those who prefer manual to automatic modes.

Pricing And Verdict
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is priced at N43,000. The prime version costs N48,000. The Note is available in 4-colour options of white, black, yellow, blue, or pink.
